Horace Mann Laboratory School and Leet Center

The Horace Mann Laboratory School and the Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families offers care and education for children from one-year-old to sixth grade.

Offering a core curriculum and working in concert with the University, Horace Mann and the Leet Center offer unique learning opportunities, which have included guitar lessons, the study of robotics, lessons about crops and animals at the University farm, and Spanish and sign language lessons. Students from multiple countries also add to the school’s diverse environment.

Horace Mann Laboratory School and Leet Center

Everett W. Brown Education Hall

Brown Hall houses the School of Education in addition to the Horace Mann Laboratory School and the Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families. Located centrally on Northwest’s campus. Horace Mann and the Leet Center also serve as clinical teaching environments for students in Northwest’s School of Education.

K.I.D.S. (Kind Individuals Dedicated to Students)

This organization is open to all Northwest Students who are interested in spending time with elementary-school-aged children. This group meets monthly and provides an evening of games, crafts, and snacks for elementary children and their Northwest “buddies.”

BookCats

BookCats is a club dedicated to promoting a love of reading to all age groups. The club reads children’s literature and discusses ways to use these books in classrooms. BookCats is a great place for future teachers to begin growing their future libraries.

Council for Exceptional Children

The organization works primarily with the adults and students with disabilities in the area in a classroom while advocating to the community about their importance in society.
